Profile
Dr. Nertha Semphere is a researcher and lecturer in Educational Psychology and Adolescent Psychology in the department of Education Foundations at the University of Malawi, Chancellor College. She has over 15 years of experience as an educator, teaching both at graduate and undergraduate levels. She has expertise in education research with key interests in Integration and adoption of technology in teaching and learning, Gender and education, Girls Access to WASH facility and impact on Education, Psychosocial issues in adolescents and impact on education, Adolescence and learning, Inclusive education in Malawian Schools and Decentralization Policy implementation in schools. She has experience in both qualitative and quantitative research techniques.
Dr. Semphere has vast experience in designing and delivery of educational programs for both online and face to face delivery. This experience was obtained through course work, assistantships, field experience and on the job experience. She has done consultancies in Child Protection, Systems Strengthening, Orphans and Other Vulnerable Children, Curriculum Design and Materials Development.
Dr. Semphere has a Ph.D. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She has participated and contributed to the advancement of child protection and gender mainstreaming in the planning, implementation and reviews of curriculum development initiatives, and review of HIV/AIDS Interventions proposals through the NAC Grants Facility. She has also actively participated in curriculum development initiatives for Magomero College of Social Work and College of Medicine HIV/STI Management programs. She is fluent in English, Chichewa (Malawi’s national language), and Chitumbuka (a prominent language in Malawi).
