Profile
John Bisika taught in Secondary Schools and Primary Teacher Training Colleges, headed several Secondary Schools in Malawi and reserved as a Senior Curriculum Specialist at Malawi Institute of Education (a National Curriculum Development Centre in Malawi).

He also worked in several capacities as Course Coordinator for Malawi Institute of Education/Brandon University project funded by Canadian International Development Agency (1990 -1993), a Component Manager for Government of Malawi/United Nation Development Programme 5th Country Programme (1994-1997) and as a Secondary School Curriculum Coordinator for evaluation of secondary school text books and teachers’ guided, a DANIDA funded programme (2001-2002) before joining Chancellor College, a constituent college of the University of Malawi as a Lecturer in both Educational Management and Curriculum Theory and Practice for 8 years.

He then worked as Director for Higher Education and as Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (2008- 2012). He served as a Member of the Executive Board of UNESCO, Paris, France (2011-2012), as Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Defence (2012-2013) and as a Commissioner in the Malawi Government Teaching Service Commission (2014-2015) before re-joining the University of Malawi in 2015.

John Bisika facilitated the revision of Early Childhood Development Syllabus (1997), the Development of Early Childhood Development Policy, the development of Special Education Inclusive Schooling at Pre-school Level (1997), Early Childhood Development Training of Trainers under Association for Pre-school Playgroups in Malawi (1996), the development of National Textbook Production Policy for Malawi (1995), and the Training of Trainer for the Free Primary Education Programme (1994).
